How does bill pay work?

  • Bill pay creates a profile of the funding accounts you choose at enrollment. When you log in to pay bills, it allows you to select from any of those checking accounts when making a payment.

When are funds taken from my account to complete my bill pay transactions?

  • For electronic payments, funds will be deducted from your account and credited to the merchant on the "due by" date you have selected. For check payments, funds will be debited from your account when the check is presented to us for payment.

What happens to my bill pay check if I don't have enough money in my account to cover my payment?

  • Bill payments by check are drawn on your account just like a normal check. If you do not have sufficient funds in your account to cover a bill pay check, we may either pay the check and charge your account for the check and an overdraft fee, or decline to pay the check and charge your account a NSF fee.

Security

How can I protect my information from online fraud?

  • Always keep your antivirus software and Web browser versions up to date and use a firewall. Antivirus software stops threats by scanning your computer for suspicious files. A firewall makes your computer invisible to attackers. It also makes it harder for criminals to get data into and out of your machine.

I think I've become a victim of online fraud. What do I do?

  • If you believe your Vast Bank account has been compromised, immediately contact a Vast Bank respresentative at 844-825-5399 or visit a Vast Bank branch near you.
  • If you suspect that your personal information has been compromised and used to commit fraud or theft in your name, take the following four steps right away:

  1. File a report with your local police department or the police in the community where the identity theft took place. Get a copy of the police report if possible, or at least the report number.

  2. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can do this via the FTC's Identity Theft Hotline at 1-877-IDTHEFT, online, or by writing to: Identity Theft Clearinghouse, Federal Trade Commission, 600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20580.

  3. Call one of the three major credit reporting agencies and ask for a fraud alert to be placed on your credit report:

         Equifax 1-800-525-6285

         Experian 1-888-397-374

         TransUnion 1-800-680-7289

  4. Contact the creditors for any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently. Ask to speak with someone in the security or fraud department of each creditor about closing those accounts and disputing any fraudulent transactions. Keep a detailed log of all contacts with creditors, including dates and times contacted, names of individuals spoken to and notes relating to each contact.

How could my computer become infected by malicious software?

  • Computer users can be tricked into installing malicious software themselves, believing they are installing some piece of “necessary” software. Computers can be infected with malware that actually installs other forms of malware.

  • If a computer’s security software is out of date, it could be exploited either by visiting a malicious website or by being attacked by a malicious or infected computer.

  • Take security steps to prevent an attacker can intentionally install malicious software on your computer.

  • Always keep your antivirus software and Web browser versions up to date and use a firewall. Antivirus software stops threats by scanning your computer for suspicious files. A firewall makes your computer invisible to attackers. It also makes it harder for criminals to get data into and out of your machine.
