WHAT IS A ROUTING NUMBER?

A bank routing number is a nine-digit identification code assigned to each financial institution. This code is, in essence, the “digital mailing address” for money. When used in conjunction with a bank account number, funds can be sent and received quickly without requiring any further personal information.

WHEN WILL I USE MY ROUTING NUMBER?

More often than not, you will need your routing number when setting up digital ACH or payment schedule or when wiring funds. For example, when setting up an auto draft for your utility bill, you will need to provide your routing number so the utility company knows which bank to draft the funds from.
